Farewell to inaugural Stadiums Tasmania Chair Michael Malouf AM

Date

24 November 2025

Stadiums Tasmania’s inaugural Chair, Michael Malouf AM, has concluded his tenure leading the organisation’s Board of Directors after three successful years establishing Tasmania’s foremost stadium authority.

Michael has played a pivotal role in positioning Stadiums Tasmania as the state’s pre-eminent organisation in relation to managing, operating and investing in Tasmania’s major public stadiums.

During Michael’s tenure Stadiums Tasmania has successfully established core governance structures and systems, including the recruitment of the Board and Executive Leadership Team, developed operational capability and built a strong brand and stakeholder reputation across the public and private sectors, including sporting bodies, on a local and national basis.

This period also saw the UTAS Stadium and Silverdome assets and operations successfully transferred and integrated into Stadiums Tasmania, while the organisation assumed capital delivery responsibilities for the UTAS Stadium and Silverdome redevelopment projects, in addition to playing a key role in the Macquarie Point Stadium project.

Michael has elected not to seek reappointment as Chair to focus instead on his family and health. Tasmania will continue to benefit from his advice and stadium development experience as he maintains his role as a member of the UTAS Stadium Redevelopment Project Steering Committee.

Stadiums Tasmania congratulates Michael on his achievements as Chair and sincerely thanks him for his leadership and lasting contribution which has set Stadiums Tasmania on a course of long-term success.

Stadiums Tasmania Director Jill Davies has been appointed as interim Chair following Michael’s departure. Jill is a highly experienced non-executive director and audit and risk committee member, primarily in the infrastructure, major events and government sectors. She has worked with many of the leading professional sporting codes and major event organising committees, including 29 years’ experience in securing, planning and delivering Olympic and Paralympic Games across five continents and multiple cities, including Sydney 2000.

In addition to her Stadiums Tasmania role, Jill currently serves as a director of GIICA, the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and holds governance roles with various government and for-purpose entities in the sporting and infrastructure industries.
